Sassidy: Finding Meaning in Music, One Song at a Time
Some artists write songs as snapshots of a moment in time. Others use music as a form of self-discovery, a way to process the complexities of life. For Sassidy, it’s both. Through deeply personal storytelling, an ever-evolving sound, and an openness to vulnerability, she invites listeners into her world—one where grief, growth, and celebration coexist in harmony.
Her latest album, I Can See the Horizon Now, is a testament to that journey. Inspired in part by the loss of her friend Drea Martin, the record is meant to be experienced in full, taking the listener on a path through uncertainty, loneliness, and ultimately, self-redemption. “The album is meant to be a ‘press start and listen all the way through’ kind of experience,” Sassidy explains. “It expresses moments of uncertainty, feeling alone, and saving myself through it all.”
Over the years, her songwriting process has become even more introspective. “Each thing I create, I get more vulnerable,” she shares. “I allow myself to get deeper in terms of how to attach the feeling and emotion with the right word to describe it.” That openness has led her to explore themes that tie us all together—life’s struggles, the beauty in small moments, and the push-and-pull of growth. While her past work has reflected on heartbreak and loss, her newer songs turn the focus inward, touching on themes of self-love, confidence, and sexuality.
As an artist, Sassidy’s sound is rooted in folk and acoustic influences, but what makes her performances unique is their adaptability. “I base the energy of the environment to determine the pace of a song,” she says. “If the crowd needs a pick-me-up, I might throw in a fun Chappell Roan or Snoop Dogg cover. If they’re really connecting with something intimate, I might slow things down, add an extra chorus.”
That ability to create a shared moment is exactly why she’s excited to perform at Holopalooza on March 15, 2025, at the Linger Longer Lounge in Phoenix, AZ. “I love intimate venues because they help create what I think is a special bond between people. Music can be so healing, and when outside distractions are at a minimum, it allows people to truly focus on the words, the sounds, how they feel. That makes it more meaningful.”
For those wondering what to expect from her set, Sassidy hints at some surprises: “There are definitely some fun covers I’m excited to play! Maybe a new original or two.” And while Holopalooza is a big milestone, she’s already thinking ahead to the future. “I’m just getting started back into it. I’ve been fortunate to provide music at a few funerals, which has been a beautiful way to help people remember their loved ones. I’m always writing—it’s my main way of coping through this crazy life—so hopefully an album or two is in the works!”
One thing is certain: Sassidy’s journey is far from over. Whether through her recorded music or her live performances, she continues to create a space where emotion is raw, connection is real, and every note carries the weight of a story waiting to be told.
Sassidy performs on the patio at 5:30pm
