The first time I heard about Atlas Past, Angelo had messaged me over Instagram. They had just started recording with my buddy Ari Leopold who runs Lava Lake Studio in Phoenix, Arizona. Ari had played them some stuff off of the Not All Of Us Are Human album & Angelo reached out to tell me he thought it was rad & we talked about recording with Lava Lake. The shutdown last year put a damper on their recording schedule. Eventually, they were able to finish up the tracks & now have released the first single off of their debut album Nightmares & Daydreams, due out later in the year.

Wake Up To You is not the first I have heard from the album. I visited the studio late last year (or early this year) & got to hear them working on a “10 minute blues song” as it was referred to. Wake Up To You is now streaming on all the streamers. Check out their Link Tree to find all the missing links.

They describe their sound as:

”Progressive Blues-Rock strait from the heart of Tempe, Arizona. Atlas Past explores the boundaries of Rock and Americana while staying true to their traditional roots. Think 'Black Keys' with more beer and less weed.”

- Always more weed -

I would describe this song as a garage blues rock song with a sprinkle of psychedelia. The verses have almost a hip hop vocal rhythm. Right at the point I wanted to hear more the song faded out. A teaser for an upcoming album that sounds better the louder you listen. I dig this track.

Check Wake Up To You & get on the train right at the beginning of their journey. Hope to see them live now that bigger shows are coming back. Album release party info will be coming sooner than later.
